Tell Congress to Vote NO on H.R. 3990
Bishop’s bill has moved out of committee and could come to a vote at any time. Tell Congress to keep our public lands protected and oppose H.R. 3990.
The Antiquities Act of 1906 was created to establish that archeological sites on public lands are important public resources. It obligates federal agencies that manage the public lands to preserve for present and future generations the historic, scientific, commemorative, and cultural values of the archaeological and historic sites and structures on these lands.
H.R. 3990 "National Monument Creation and Protection Act" attempts to dismantle the Antiquities Act of 1906. This bill would allow the president to shrink existing national monuments without consulting Congress. The bill would also limit the size of new monuments and stop the creation of new marine monuments. This bill is one of our biggest threats to our public lands, and should never become law. Sign below to urge your representatives to oppose this bill to protect our public lands for present and future generations to come.
